Southeast Kansas is often overlooked for waterfowl. In our area of SE Kansas there are two large reservoirs that hold thousands of ducks and geese. The reservoirs also manage well for waterfowl with flooded marshes and refuge areas to hold ducks. At 180 outdoors we have natural marshes surrounded by crop fields, ponds and big watersheds that are a spitting distance from the local reservoirs. We also have an abundance of dry land crop fields that hold
a lot of birds. When everything freezes up we have the opportunity to hunt riffles along the Verdigris River. You will get the opportunity to hunt out of stationary blinds and out of layout blinds. We move where the birds move! In our area we shoot mainly Mallards but we also shoot an abundance of Pintail, Widgeon and Gadwall. Kansas has a late season duck hunt January normally the last week in January, so if you’re looking for a species for the wall this is a great time to get it. You will also have the opportunity to shoot Canada geese if you choose to.
